Q:  Will Funding Exchange pay for Member Foundation staff to attend?

Yes, each Funding Exchange Network member foundation is invited to send two individuals (board or staff) at no cost to that foundation.  FEX will pay for hotel rooms at double occupancy and flight/ground transportation. Additional staff and board members are welcome to attend, but are required to register and pay the reduced conference rate above, as well as their own air/ground transportation.

Q: How do I pay for the conference?

After you register, you will receive an email invoice.  Payment may be made by check or credit card, but must be completed by August 15.

Q: But isn’t Arizona being boycotted?

Activist organizations in Arizona have asked us to return. Hispanic and other immigrant workers make up a large percentage of the hospitality and service workforces in the state of Arizona –  in excess of 30 and 40 percent, respectively, which includes hotels, traveling services and restaurants – all businesses that are directly effected by a boycott of the state. Especially during this time of economic instability and high unemployment, these boycotts may wind up hurting the very group of people that its supporters are attempting to help.

Q: Why isn’t it being held in a location where FEX has a member fund?

We need our voices to be heard. Our visit to Arizona will enable us to witness the work that is being done and the work that has yet to be done to bring justice to the people of Arizona.  FEX has identified Arizona as a site for development of a new local member fund to build a permanent institutional and financial base to support social change through fundraising for state-wide grant making programs.

Q: Who should attend?

  • FEX member fund staff.
  • Activists who are grantees of FEX or a FEX member fund
  • Those working to build capacity of their public foundation – whether it is a FEX-affiliated fund or an ally
  • Institutional donors wishing to understand how to work with a network of nimble funds with feet on the ground to leverage and expand the grant making impact.
  • Individual donor activists wishing to close the distance between their contributions and projects supporting change – both emotionally and operationally; and to connect with other activists in a ‘no solicitation’ zone.

So that the conference space is open and comfortable for all attendees, it is designated as a ‘no solicitation’ zone.  We ask all attendees to honor this space.
