An internship in fundraising will build highly marketable skills for those looking to work in this field. Prospecting, donor relations, compiling donor profiles, and writing fundraising appeals are all aspects of this job.
Graduate students preferred. Excellent writing skills are a must, knowledge about social justice issues is preferred though not required.
Research, prioritize, and apply for grants from a wide variety of governmental, private, and public foundations and institutions. Supervised by a staff member experienced in fundraising techniques, the grant writer will work fairly independently in researching prospects and the development of proposals, building on existing resources for grant writing.
Graduate students preferred. Excellent writing skills are a must. Knowledge about social justice issues is preferred though not required.
Work with FEX’s Membership Director in support of member funds currently located in sixteen cities throughout the US, and in development of new funds. Develop profiles to communicate the work currently underway and state the need for new funds. Work on an annual conference for member fund leadership.
Research and write articles to share with donors, stakeholders, and for publication, assist in maintaining press clips, draft press releases and field press calls. Bolster FEX’s communications through social media channels—Facebook, Twitter, and others.
Be part of the team that redesigns and maintains FEX’s web site. Research, write and edit stories about social justice issues, design graphics and build web pages.
Prospective FEX interns should be hard working, enthusiastic and flexible individuals who possess or seek a working knowledge of social justice issues within a progressive framework. Interns should also be committed to continuing to struggle for equality and justice once they leave the internship program.
