With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act moving quickly, the convening will provide an update on the latest developments and what to expect between now and 2014. Seizing the Opportunity: Achieving Equity in Health Reform will provide insight on how advocates can impact federal, state, and local implementation efforts, featuring presentations from CPEHN, Western Center on Law & Poverty, Health Access, and at the Los Angeles convening, special guest speaker Kim Belshé, California Health Benefit Exchange Board Member and former Secretary of the state’s Health and Human Services Agency.

Participants will:

  • Hear about the progress of health care reform implementation on the federal and state level
  • Strategize with state and local advocates
  • Identify ways to ensure the ACA meets the needs of California’s communities of color
